What is a roaming photo booth?

A roaming photo booth has no booth at all. An attendant carries a handheld capture system — an iPad in a lit housing — and works the room, inviting guests to take a photo wherever they happen to be standing.

It solves two problems at once: venues where there is genuinely nowhere to put a booth, and events where guests are seated or circulating and will not get up to join a queue.

How the roamer works

Sessions take under a minute. The attendant approaches a group, they choose their capture style — stills, GIFs or boomerangs, depending on what you have selected — and the photo is taken on the spot. Guests enter a phone number or email and receive their images immediately.

Because the attendant goes to the guests rather than waiting for them, coverage across a room is far higher than a static booth achieves in the same window.

When to pair the roamer with another booth

At large events, the roamer works best alongside a static booth. The mirror or 360 booth anchors one part of the room and draws a crowd; the roamer covers the seated dinner tables, the cocktail area and the smokers outside who would never have queued.

It is a common pairing for weddings over about 150 guests, and standard for trade show stands where footfall is spread across a day rather than concentrated in an evening.

Best for

  • Cocktail hours
  • Trade shows
  • Galas
  • Venues with no floor space

What clients say

4.9 stars from 210 Google reviews

Magic Mirror Brooklyn is Absolutely the BEST thing we added to our wedding reception! People were still talking about how much FUN they had 2 weeks after, they LOVED Vallon and his crew who made everything so much FUN, the keepsake photos were Hilarious & guests stayed WAY later than they would have because we had this UNIQUE booth! Typical photobooths have NOTHING on this Mirror. If I could give a 10 star rating..I would!

Selly & Sherwin

Magic Mirror Brooklyn was incredibly professional and friendly upon booking online, particularly in regards to the rental of the Mirror photo-booth. They worked tirelessly to pull off our vision and went above and beyond throughout the process. On event day, they were professional and had wonderful interactions with each guest who came to get their picture taken.

Sasha & Gladstone

It was a pleasure doing business with Valen. He was very polite, professional and very accommodating. Him and his assistant had very good energy and kept all of our guests having fun. The table with accessories was kept neat and organized the whole evening. The booth was a big hit in my event! Would definitely hire this company again.

Questions

Roaming Photo Booth FAQ

Does the roaming booth print photos?

The roamer is a digital-first experience — photos go straight to guests' phones. If you want prints as well, we pair it with a static booth and printer station.

How much space does a roaming photo booth need?

None. That is the point of it. There is no footprint to plan around, no power run and no backdrop, which makes it the answer for venues where every square foot is already spoken for.

How much does a photo booth rental cost in NYC?

Pricing depends on which booth you choose, how many hours you need, and where your venue is. Every quote is built for your specific event rather than pulled off a rate card, so the fastest way to a real number is the quote form — it takes about 30 seconds. Additional hours beyond your booked time are $125 per hour.

Is an attendant included with the photo booth rental?

Yes. A trained attendant runs every booth for the full length of your rental — setting up, keeping the prop table organized, helping guests, and packing down afterward. You never have to assign someone from your own team to look after the booth.

How much space does the booth need?

Optimal setup is 10ft x 10ft, which leaves room for the backdrop, prop table and a red carpet. We can compress into a smaller footprint when a venue is tight — the minimum is 8ft x 8ft with 7.5ft of ceiling clearance. We also need a standard 110V, 5-amp, 3-prong outlet within 15 feet of the booth.

How long does setup take?

About 20 minutes from the moment we walk in until we are taking the first picture. We arrive a full hour before your scheduled start time so everything is tested and ready. If you need us on site earlier than that, idle time is $55 per hour.

Do you carry insurance and can you provide a COI for my venue?

Yes. We carry a $2 million insurance policy. If your venue needs a certificate of insurance naming them as additionally insured, reply to your booking confirmation with their contact email and we will send it over.
